Skin Repairing: Updated November 2025 with Zinc as my go-to sunscreen
Acne is driven by oil, clogged pores, bacteria,
inflammation, and sometimes hormonal or dietary factors. Scars form when an
inflamed lesion damages the skin’s collagen or when healing is disrupted by
picking, squeezing, or scratching. Never pick or squeeze spots because doing so
increases inflammation and the risk of permanent scarring.
Practical notes: professional devices and trained applications are safest. Home devices exist but require correct settings and technique. Do not use high frequency if you have a pacemaker, epilepsy, metal implants near the treatment area or during pregnancy. Stop immediately if you feel pain or significant irritation.
Infrared Lamp Treatments
Infrared Lamp Treatments
Affordable and effective — good infrared lamps on eBay start from $50 AUD, ideal for skin rejuvenation and body repair at home. I’ve used infrared therapy since the 1940s — my Danish grandmother even gifted my parents an infrared lamp for their wedding. It’s been a trusted healing tool in our family ever since. I now have a large panel with red lights added to the panel for my skin and a pain free experience each day for my osteoarthritis.
Enhances Skin Health: Improved blood flow delivers more oxygen and nutrients to skin cells, promoting cell regeneration and repair for a healthier complexion.
Speeds Up Wound
Healing: Near-infrared light can accelerate the healing process for skin
lesions and wounds.
Reduces Acne Scars: By promoting cellular regeneration and improving skin texture, it can help minimize the appearance of acne scars.

Body Benefits
Improved Circulation: The therapy enhances blood flow, which helps deliver oxygen and nutrients throughout the body.
Natural Organic Skincare
and Nutrition
- Internal support: a balanced diet, adequate
sleep, hydration, and nutrients that support skin repair are important.
Some people include blackstrap molasses as a nightly supplement for
trace minerals; take one tablespoon in warm water as the last intake
before bed if you tolerate the taste.
Simple Daily Plan to Start Today
- Avoid picking and use clean hands when
touching your face.
- Spot treat active lesions with an
appropriate product; for natural options, use diluted Tea Tree Essential
Oil diluted in Olive oil or sulphur-based topical products if tolerated.
Bear in mind, Tea Tree Oil is very drying and sulphur-based topical
products need your Doctor or Aromatherapists guidance.
- Weekly: gentle chemical or physical
exfoliation once per week to reduce pore congestion; avoid
over-exfoliating.
- Consider high frequency once weekly with a
trained professional or carefully at-home following device safety
instructions.
- Consider an infrared lamp for home use.
- Nutrition and sleep: prioritise whole foods,
reduce excess refined sugar, stay hydrated, and aim for consistent sleep.
- Sun protection: daily broad-spectrum SPF to
prevent pigmentation and protect healing skin. I have always used Zinc as
my sunscreen while surfing, water-skiing, and snow-skiing. At age 78, I
can safely say Zinc works best. Researchers have found that zinc oxide nanoparticles barely penetrate
the epidermis, the top layer of the skin, which would make it difficult to
reach the bloodstream.

Quick DIY Recipes and Notes
- Blackstrap molasses drink: 1 tablespoon
blackstrap molasses in 1/2 cup warm water, sip as the last thing before
bed.
- Dietary turmeric-egg mix (food, not topical):
4–6 hard-boiled eggs, peeled and mashed; mix into yoghurt or a light
mayonnaise; add 4 tbsp turmeric powder and 1 tsp black pepper; eat as a
dip with vegetables or rice crackers.
- Topical turmeric mask: 1 tsp turmeric + 1
tbsp plain yoghurt + 1 tsp honey; apply 10 minutes, rinse gently; use once
weekly and be aware turmeric can stain skin and fabrics.
- Gentle toner: 1 part witch hazel
(alcohol-free) + 2 parts distilled water; apply lightly after cleansing.
- Essential oil safety: dilute essential oils
in a carrier oil to 0.5–2% for facial use; perform a patch test and
discontinue if irritation occurs.
